Phony War On Christmas, The Rubes & Dupes!

Bill “falafel” O’Reilly, John Gibson, Pat Robertson and all the rest of those who have created this phony controversy called ……drum roll please….”The War On Christmas” are simply playing people for rubes and creating a controversy where none exists. It is so disgusting that words are hardly able to describe my feelings over this complete waste of time. Sam Seder of the Majority Report on Air America does a fine job “debating” Bob Knight from Concerned Women For America and pokes fun (courtesy of Crooks & Liars) at this phony war that is really a fund raising exercise for these pure “Men Of God” (cue choir singing in background) or whatever they choose to identify themselves by and the rubes and dupes are the target. I’ll bet they’re doing quite well in this department. Now Bill and Gibson have a slightly different motive...more viewers which would translate into more money also.

On a related note, for some reason when I turned on the television the other day the first thing I saw was Pat Robertson on his 700 club talking about something called the “Chairman” level of donation, which costs $10,000 a year. Apparently someone who donates this amount of money gets to be on an hour long conference call with Pat once a month to listen to the pearls of wisdom from this “Man Of God” (cue choir again) and one of the things Pat mentioned was that he hears a lot of stuff and well recently he recommended a stock that went up 40% and you know if you get something like that going well it could pay for what it costs to join the “Chairman” level.

Words are useless at times like this but I wonder how do you go from reading the Bible where Jesus talks about the poor, the least among us and so on and get to this point? How do you reconcile giving this hateful demagogue your hard earned money? For one thing he says things that are very strange for a “Man Of God” (choir again) like assassinating a foreign head of state for example.
