The Nation Has A Great Editorial

Read it here. It slams most of the Democrats for not opposing this war which is a "moral and political catastrophe" and most of the country is finally coming to grips with this fact. Please, somone in the party get some balls and call it for what it is. A disaster that many people predicted and opposed from the start.

President George Bush Has A Plan For Victory

I am wondering what that victory would be exactly? You mean where the Shiites control the southern part of the country, the Kurds the north and the Sunnis well they get the left over middle with no oil. This of course, is after a bloody and brutal civil war which embroils the rest of the middle east and destabilizes it even further. Mission accomplished.

It actually comes down to the same thing he has been saying all along. Stay the course. Even though the course is a train track heading into an abyss of death and destruction. But hey, who cares he is on a mission from god. All is well.

Rush Limbaugh - A Hate Filled Hillbilly Heroin Addict

Read about it here. Do you think even his listeners once in a while as they are shaving in the morning or brushing their teeth ever have a moment when they have a brief realization that this guy is a raving, hate filled blowhard and liar? I wonder.

Joe Conason Article On Bob Woodward

Bob Woodward is a shell of what he once was. If you haven't been following Woodward's comments on this whole affair let me put it to you this way. He has been supporting the White House and denouncing the Fitzgerald investigation on a regular basis and claiming there has not been any damage by Plame being outed by that horrible creature of the right wing Bob Novak. But basically in a nutshell all that can be said is that Woodward has been a Bush apologist. It is disgusting. Does any of this have to do with Woodward being a republican?

few credible reports of contacts between Iraq and Al Qaeda involved attempts by Saddam Hussein to monitor the terrorist group

Evidence Keeps Coming Out About the Bush administration Deception On Iraq and the witholding of info from everyone else. Do you think his rating will go up with this now out in the public? What kind of reaction are we going to see from this cornered group of liars? Read about it here.

Below is a small excerpt for you to ponder.

"One of the more intriguing things that Bush was told during the briefing was that the few credible reports of contacts between Iraq and Al Qaeda involved attempts by Saddam Hussein to monitor the terrorist group. Saddam viewed Al Qaeda as well as other theocratic radical Islamist organizations as a potential threat to his secular regime. At one point, analysts believed, Saddam considered infiltrating the ranks of Al Qaeda with Iraqi nationals or even Iraqi intelligence operatives to learn more about its inner workings, according to records and sources. "

Did we ever hear anything before the war about this subject. Of course we did many people commented on the fact that Saddam considered Al Qaeda dangerous to his regime. Why? Because he was a secular dictator and Bin Laden considered him an enemy.

Then there is this little nugget.

"The Senate Intelligence Committee has asked the White House for the CIA assessment, the PDB of September 21, 2001, and dozens of other PDBs as part of the committee's ongoing investigation into whether the Bush administration misrepresented intelligence information in the build up to war with Iraq. The Bush administration has refused to turn over these documents. "

Normally I would be reluctant to call people liars. Not so with this neo-con bunch. Not at all.

Keep all this in mind when the administration and their apologists attack anyone who questions their distortions and lies.

Tony Blair talked him out of it. These people are nuts. Yes, I really mean it. Certifiable. Read about it here.

Republicans Refuse To Honor Springsteen

Now you know how vindictive, petty, mean and nasty they are. These guys never forget or forgive. Your either with them or against them. No in between with this black and white thinking self righteous group.

Dick Cheney - Desperate Liar

See Dick on the attack now you know what a human equivalent of a cornered dog looks like. You would think there wasn't any videotape out there showing all the things Dick said in building up the fear in this country over WMD in Iraq, linking Iraq to terrorists and Al Qaeda specifically. Oh yeah, I forgot, everyone saw the same intelligence. That's right. Golly gee, sorry Dick.

Now if you would like to buy this lovely tower I own in Paris...

It must be asked: Are they stupid or lying?

Don Rumsfeld - I Didn't Advocate Invasion

STEPHANOPOULOS: If you had known that no weapons of mass destruction would be found, would you have advocated invasion?
RUMSFELD: I didn’t advocate invasion.
STEPHANOPOULOS: You didn’t?
RUMSFELD: No, I wasn’t asked. If you read all the books and the things —
STEPHANOPOULOS: Why weren’t you asked? That’s very puzzling.
RUMSFELD: Well, I’m sure the president understood what my views were. But as a technical matter, did he ever look and say, “What should we do? Should we go do this or not do that?” This something the president thought through very carefully.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Are you trying to distance yourself from the war with that –
RUMSFELD: Of course not. Of course not. I agreed completely with the decision to go to war and said that a hundred times. And don’t — don’t even suggest that.
STEPHANOPOULOS: I’m just asking.
RUMSFELD: Well, you know better.

Now maybe my memory is really bad but I seem to remember Richard Clarke talking about a meeting held right after 9/11 and they were talking about going into Afghanistan and Rumsfeld said there were no good targets in that country but that there were lots of them in Iraq. Am I remembering this wrong?

Jerry Falwell And His Holy War For Christmas (It's A Christian Holiday Didn't You Know)

This is a Christian country! Fundamentalists are very worried about the "secularization" of Christmas. Gee, I thought they said commercialization! They aren't worried about that aspect though because their conservative big business friends make way to much money to bring it up. Read about it here.

The Man Who Sold The War

Alerted to this article published by Rolling Stone magazine over at This Modern World and just the first few paragraphs are like your worst nightmare come to life concerning the selling of this war. Unbelievable and it just gets worse the more you read.

Syriana

Just saw Ebert & Roeper review the film and both agree it is one of the best of the year. The movie trailer is here and looks very good. The movie is based on a book by a former CIA middle east agent named Robert Baer, so it probably has an element of the truth to it.

Are They Stupid Or Lying?

Absolutely brilliant and on target comic by Tom Tomorrow about the current revisionist history concerning Iraq by the Bush administration and their apologists .

Are they stupid or lying?

Exactly.

You can print it out and carry with you at all times in case an Iraq war apologist starts ranting. Then remove and make apologist read. Then watch apologist not get it and return to ranting.

GOP Politics Of Withdrawing From Iraq

Jean Schmidt of Ohio and newest GOP right winger in the Congress calls John Murtha a coward using another person's words and then says she really didn't mean it. These people are pathetic. But of course this is normal conduct from the right wing of this country.

Want To Hear A Song That: Helps Teach American Youth That ‘Bush Was Right’!?

Courtesy of the The News Blog

This "song" apprently is by the Right Brothers and the song is called Bush Was Right.

Apparently it is not meant as a satire.

Haven't had time to hear the tune but they use part of the music of a Billy Joel song called "We Didn't Start The Fire". Sort of, I didn't know Billy was a republican!

Here are the lyrics for you to enjoy!

Freedom in Afghanistan, say goodbye TalibanFree elections in Iraq, Saddam Hussein locked upOsama’s staying underground, Al Qaida now is finding outAmerica won’t turn and run once the fighting has begunLibya turns over nukes, Lebanese want freedom, tooSyria is forced to leave, don’t you know that all this meansBush was right!Bush was right!Bush was right!Democracy is on the way, hitting like a tidal wave All over the middle east, dictators walk with shaky kneesDon’t know what they’re gonna do, their worst nightmare is coming trueThey fear the domino effect, they’re all wondering who’s nextBush was right!Bush was right!Bush was right!Ted Kennedy - wrong!Cindy Sheehan - wrong!France - WRONG!Zell Miller - right!Economy is on the rise kicking into overdriveAngry liberals can’t believe it’s cause of W’s policiesUnemployment’s staying down, Democrats are wondering howRevenue is going up, can you say “Tax Cuts”Bush was right!Bush was right!Bush was right!Cheney was right, Condi was right,Rummy was right, Blair was rightYou were right, We were right, “The Right” was rightand Bush was right…Bush was right!Bush was right! What We're AboutWhat We're Fighting For.

A Few Things To Keep In Mind About White House Attacks On Democrats

These are very, very desperate people. With the President at 36%-38% and the Vice President at 19% in the polls you would think they would look at policy and maybe make some changes. That is not how this bunch operates. They go on the attack.

Here for you to arm yourself with information are the many false or distorted statements made by members of the Bush administration about Iraq.

You can thank Congressman Henry Waxman for this info.

Hawkish Democrat Calls for Iraq Pullout - GOP nightmare gets worse

"It is time for a change in direction," said Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., one of Congress' most hawkish Democrats. "Our military is suffering, the future of our country is at risk. We cannot continue on the present course. It is evident that continued military action in Iraq is not in the best interests of the United States of America, the Iraqi people or the Persian Gulf region."

"The war in Iraq is not going as advertised. It is a flawed policy wrapped in illusion," Murtha said.

"Rep. Kay Granger, R-Texas, said Murtha's call for withdrawal was "reprehensible and irresponsible."
"It shows the Democratic Party has chosen a policy of retreat and defeatism which will only encourage the terrorists and threaten the stability of Iraq," Granger said.

These people will never stop connecting Iraq with terrorism even though Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 or with Al-Qaeda. The nerve they have to talk about the stability of Iraq after that country was bombed and invaded based on misinformation, distortion and flat out lies is absurd. They are in complete denial of what they have done and continue to do.

Debra J. Saunders - Just Another Conservative. Yawn.

Debra is at it again, yes that intrepid conservative commentator at the "ultra liberal" San Francisco Chronicle wants you to know how things really are and old Debra is going to lay the facts out for you. Guess what? It turns out that conservatives like her are right and liberals are wrong. It just turns out to always and naturally be that way didn’t you know?

Her new commentary is on global warming. Basically many conservatives don’t like to hear that global warming is caused or substantially helped (fueled?) by pollution from humans on this planet. Why they don’t want this to be true is easy to understand. To change this would involve reducing pollution which would involve a curb on big business and a drastic lifestyle change in the U.S. and conservatives can’t comprehend that sort of thing. I highly recommend you read her commentary if you want a good laugh.

I feel that most people will be able to see the fallacy of her argument quite easily.

Hint: Scientific consensus has been wrong in the past so it must be wrong now. As long as the consensus is not something conservatives want.

Going To A Local Anti-War Rally Tonight

This will be about my sixth time going to one since February 2003 including one in Sacramento and one in San Francisco. I have also written a couple of letters to the editor against this war and the Bush administration that were all published in our local paper. It is a little different now because the majority of the people are against what is going on. I wonder if it has anything to do with all of the information that has come out lately (in the mainstream media) about how we were deceived into this war with Iraq? Plus, all the dead and wounded both Iraqi and Americans. I was wondering when the swing would happen and it has finally.

Bill O'Reilly - The New McCarthy!

Bill plans to publish an online enemies list. I can't wait for him to wave a bunch of papers around in his hand and declare that there are over 300 "far left internet smear sites" in the country!

This is a very sick man. He is a dangerous combination of ego, vanity, delusion (he thinks he wields great power and his opinion has great weight in the country) and paranoia. He doesn't know that only his billbot (patent pending) followers believe his misinformation, distortion and flat out lies. Naturally he considers himself a moral person who is correct on all the issues and dispenses the "word" to all liberals and leftists on how things really are.

Me, I just keep thinking about the falafel king and his little teenage sexual fantasies. But maybe you wonder how the woman who was the focus of his lust could afford an 800k condo in New York after settling her sexual harassment lawsuit with Bill. Portable recording devices are wonderful things.

John Cusak - A Not So Nice Rant

He nails the Bush adminstration and the neo-cons right on the head with his commentary. He also has advice for the Democrats and they would be wise to listen.

Wal Mart - The High Cost Of Low Price

Me and my wife had a screening last night for the excellent new movie, The High Cost Of Low Price from director Robert Greenwald, who also made the Outfoxed dvd which came out last year about the Fox News channel for which we also had a screening. We had ten people over, mostly friends, and most of us knew something about how awful Wal Mart is but none of us really knew it was this bad. These people are just horrible and on just about every level you can imagine. Health insurance, sexism, anti-union, pay, environment and it just goes on and on. I highly recommend both documentaries.

Good Night, And Good Luck

If you haven't seen the movie yet, go and see it before it's out of the theatres. Extremely relevant and always will be like all good art. Do you think it will be screened in the Whitehouse theatre?

Bill O'Reilly - His Followers Are Now Called Billbots

Bill O'Reilly is a special case. A man who somehow thinks he weilds great power and has delusions of grandeur to go along with his ego and persecution complex. He went after SF because he didn't like some measures that the people of that city voted on and he definitely didn't like the outcome. You can read about it here.

So in honor of Bill's latest outrage I have a proposal. Rush has his dittoheads, what does Bill have to call his own? I propose we name anyone who listens to this guy and who believes what he says now be called a billbot. All billbots will speak in a monotone voice with no emotion, and no humanity as they greet each other by saying for example, "I am billbot John Smith from Little Rock do you reside in the no spin zone?" If you do not reside in the no spin zone like a billbot does you are deemed unworthy and will be shunned by all good billbots. It would be the official greeting of the like minded.

If I was a writer on the Daily Show I would try and write a funny little script about it. Bill is perfect material. I don't know if Bill is aware of what satire is though, but that doesn't matter, as Al Franken noted "Satire is free speech, even if the object of the satire doesn't get it".

Former Senator John Edwards - I Was Wrong

What is he be talking about? I wonder what it could possibly be?

Debra Saunders - San Francisco Chronicle

The right wing commentator of the "ultra liberal" San Francisco Chronicle was on a local tv show this morning and is apparently tired of Democrats doing "revisionist" history concerning the reason for invading Iraq. "They thought Iraq had WMD also", she says. While Democrats may have and voted for it and should be ashamed let us take a real world based approach to this subject. I don't know about you but I can only take so much of this "create their own reality" crowd.

Democrats and Republicans didn't pursue this war with Iraq, the Bush administration that is full of neo-cons did and they used 9/11 and the "war on terror"as a cover for it, or as the Project For The New American Century put it, they needed a "Pearl Harbor like event" to pursue their middle east domination fantasies (control resources, dominate the world etc.) that they have had for quite some time. This war was rolled out by the White House Iraq Group as a marketing strategy to sell the public on this invasion starting in September of 2002 and as it was put by Andy Card "from a marketing point of view, you don't introduce new products in August".

It is now coming to light about fake documents that were supposed to be from Niger were forgeries that came out of Italy and were passed on to the U.S. Naturally the pertinent question is who created these forgeries and for what purpose? Of course right wingers such as Saunders would downplay this by either ignoring it completely, saying it is irrelevant or claiming that it is just "conspiracy nuts" who believe this is important.

They would also downplay the Downing Street Memos that were leaked from our close allies the British who joined our country in this neo-con fantasy of bringing "democracy" to the Middle East by invading and killing tens of thousands of people who just happen to live on an oil rich country.

We don't hear anything about WMD or mushroom clouds anymore just that this is all part of the" war on terror" and that Saddam was a "bad" man. I agree he is a very nasty and brutal dictator and has been since he took power. We liked him just fine when he invaded Iran and started a long war with that country and we still liked him even after he used chemical weapons on his own people. We had no problem with that. We only had a problem when he did something that wasn't part of the paradigm which involved invading Kuwait and stopping the flow of the "spice", sorry I mean the oil!

If we as a country are so interested in "liberating" so many people from oppression I am sure the people of Burma/Myanmar and Tibet are waiting for their freedom any time we can get to them.

I could go on and on about this, there is plenty of information out there if you want to find out the truth as they call it, but suffice it to say a conservative apologist like Debra Saunders would never allow any of this to enter her consciousness.

Revisionist history.
Exactly right Debra, but not in the way you think.

My brother wrote to me with a very good point I forgot to mention, which is that the members of congress did not see the same intelligence that the administration did, which has been mentioned by other people also. So what was the raw data saying? Was there "cherry picking" as it is called. The answer is quite obvious.

The picture used in this blog is not from the show I saw today.
